Covering 3 cities in 1 day is always unforgettable experience. 26th December is only day of the year 2015 i got opportunity to cover 3 cities in 1 day – Bengaluru, Delhi & Haridwar.
Journey to Haridwar from Bengaluru is always special one and will remain in our memories for long long time because we experienced multiple transports including Cab, Flight, Metro and Train for our commutation.
Day in brief:
My flight for Delhi was scheduled at 7:10 AM. I got up around 2:00 AM. Had bath and started from my house around 3:30 AM.
Booked Ola cab to reach Bengaluru International Airport and reached around 4:30 AM. Achintya was already there at 5:00 AM since both of us in same flight I joined him. Venkatesh, Santhosh Sanny and Santosh sidd joined us at Airport. 5 of us boarded same flight to Delhi at 7:10 AM. I got window seat and enjoyed flight journey (Flight No. 6E 126 & Seat No. 14B).
Reached Delhi airport around 9:40 AM after 2 and half hours of flight journey. Our train to Haridwar was scheduled around 3:20 PM, so we had enough time in Delhi to explore nearby places.
Took shuttle and reached nearby Metro station. Moved towards New Delhi Railway station using Delhi Metro as transport. 5 of us kept our luggages at locker room inside Metro station and took metro to reach Chandani Chowk. After 2 stops from New Delhi Metro station, we all reached Chandani Chowk. Most senior member of our group Venkatesh is aware of what to eat at old Delhi & nearby places around Chandani Chowk. He took us to few hotels and we tasted some local foods like Desi Ghee fried Parathas, Daulat ki chat, Jalebi with Rabri & Masala Orange.
Food feast at Chandani Chowk & near-by places
Desi Ghee fried Parathas: First Venkatesh took us to Paranthe Wali Gali. It was walking distance from Chandni chowk Metro station. We had Desi Ghee fried Parathas – Tried variations like Karela, Aloo, Radish, Carrot, Dry-fruits, Matar, Mixed, Paneer, etc… Each Parathas costed around Rs. 50 to 70. 2 types of Sabji, Pickle and Salad comes as complimentary.
Daulat ki chat: Then we had Daulat ki chat at Paranthe Wali Gali. A winter speciality made of milk cream. Each bowl of Daulat ki chat costed around Rs.50. I loved it and had 2 bowls. Still wanted to have more but it is costly
Other foods like Kachori with Aloo chat and Lassi also tasted at Paranthe Wali Gali.
Jalebi with Rabri: Moved further towards Red Fort and had Jalebi with Rabri from a 400 years famous shop. It is located on the way to Red Fort from the Gurudwara near Paranthe Wali Gali.
Masala Orange: Had Masala orange while returning towards Chandani Chowk Metro station. 5 orange with Masala costed us only Rs. 10.
5 of us had amazing time at old Delhi then moved towards Red Fort. Relaxed for half an hour and took group selfie at Red Fort.
Started towards New Delhi Railway station around 1:30 PM. Reached station around 3:00 PM. Other 10 Members of our group joined us at New Delhi Railway station at 3:00 PM. 15 of us started our train journey to Haridwar around 3:20 PM on JANMA SHATBDI Express with Train No. 12055/DDN JANSHTBDI. Train journey was amazing with lot of fun and chit chats. After 2 hours delay at Muzaffar Nagar stop due to machine problem, train reached Haridwar around 9:00 PM. One more guy Afzalul joined us at Haridwar Railway station. Now we are team of 16.
Trek organizer Achintya Kundu already booked Hotel Ashoka for overnight stay at Haridwar in-front of Railway station. Reached hotel and shifted our luggages.
