Day in brief:
This is 1 Day Cycling Tour around Coorg and more of monsoon ride since monsoon is in full swing around Karnataka. Nothing much to carry since it is 1 Day event, as informed by founder of AA Yashwanth. I was ready on 14th July Friday Night around 10:00 PM at my home with Bicycle & small backpack. I was the only one guy who is taking Bicycle to Coorg rest of the 6 members rented Bicycles so Puneeth with this Bolero came to my place at Nagadevanahalli to pick-up me. I was ready by 10:00 PM itself, as soon as Puneeth came he loaded my Bicycle in Bolero and i gave company to him till Decathlon Mysore Road. Then i shifted to Tempo Traveler where other 6 participant s were present.
Journey began to Hunsur which is our starting point for Coorg POLLIBETTA Cycling Tour around 11:00 PM from Decathlon Mysore Road. It was short journey and Hunsur is not far so reached B.S.Boarding & Lodging at Hunsur around 1:45 AM. Shifted to 2 rooms. Yashwanth informed us to be ready by 6:45 AM so we told Bye Bye for the day around 2:00 AM. Kept alarms to get wake-up alert early. All of us got-up around 5:30 AM and freshen-up one by one. Everyone was ready by 6:45 AM and went down for breakfast at Sahara Restaurant, Hunsur which is at basement of the Building itself where we did overnight stay.
Had Idly & Vada for breakfast at 7:00 AM. After 45 minutes of relaxed breakfast all of us started towards Cycling Tour starting point on TT which is just 6 Kms. from Hunsur.
Reached start point around 8:00 AM. Bolero reached starting point early and Puneeth unloaded Bicycles. Started our Bicycle Ride to POLLIBETTA post group photo around 8:15 AM from Hunsur Circle.
Rode towards Thitimathi which is 30 Kms. from Hunsur Cirle via Thitimathi Forest where we started our Bicycle Ride for the day. It was scenic ride with Farms, Paddy fields, Elephant camp, Thitimathi Forest Check-post, Awesome views of nature and Cloudy weather throughout the stretch of Hunsur – Thitimathi gave us real feeling of Monsoon Bicycle Ride! Had few breaks in between the ride and reached Thitimathi around 10:30 AM.
It was started to rain around 10:30 AM at Thitimathi so all of us thought of taking much needed break. Took 15 Minutes of break around 10:45 AM and had Banana as refreshment at Thitimathi.
Took right deviation towards POLLIBETTA which is just 10 Kms. from Thitimathi around 11:00 AM.
It was fabulous ride throughout the stretch of POLLIBETTA Coffee Estates. Took group photo post 2 Kms. of ride from Thitimathi right deviation and continued our ride. This stretch is full of Greenery and Coffee Estates.
Reached POLLIBETTA around 12:00 PM Noon. Organizers served us Pineapple and Watermelon as refreshment.
Took half an hour break and started towards POLLIBETTA Golf Course. Entry is not allowed inside POLLIBETTA Golf course so we took group photo with Cycle salute outside the Golf Course itself.
Started towards Siddapura from POLLIBETTA Golf Course and rode throughout the stretches of POLLIBETTA Coffee Estates. Terrain was rolling one with uphill ride at few parts of the stretch.
Decided to have lunch at 1:30 PM at one of left deviations which will take us to Siddapura. Had Chapathi & Palav for lunch which is packed from Sahara Restaurant, Hunsur in the morning.
It was 1 hour of lunch break before we started our ride towards Coorg POLLIBETTA Cycling Tour end point Siddapura around 2:30 PM.
Reached Siddapura around 3:30 PM and decided to ride another 10 Kms. but it is started to rain again when we rode downhill towards the Circle. Yashwanth, Puneeth & i decided to end days ride here itself. Only covered 5 to 6 Kms. of stretch post Siddapura. With this 68.1 Kms. of Epic 1 Day Monsoon Ride from Hunsur to Siddapura via POLLIBETTA comes to End.
Puneeth loaded Bicycles to Bolero and all of us shifted to Tempo Traveler. Stared our return journey to Namma Bengaluru around 4:00 PM. Reached Bengaluru at 9:30 PM. I got down at Kengeri Over-bridge, Mysore Road and rode towards my home. Reached home at 10:45 PM post dinner.
Cycling distance: 68.1 Kms.
Cycling route map as per Strava: Hunsur –> Titimati –> Pollibetta –> Siddapura
Terrain: Easy to Moderate (Ride goes through scenic route of Thitimathi Forest & some uphill stretches throughout Coffee Estates of POLLIBETTA).
It was well organised Cycling Tour from Pick-up to drop at Namma Bengaluru by Adventure Adda. Thanks to Yashwanth Urs, Puneeth & Team for giving me opportunity to be part of this Adventure group for memorable ride!!!
