Dzongri & Goecha La and Kasturi Oral Round Trek of West Sikkim offers Breathtaking and Jaw dropping views of mighty Himalayan Mountains of Kangchendzonga National Park. It is my sincere effort to document and show case to the world what we seen during our Dzongri & Goecha La Trek experience which is extremely scenic in-terms of Himalayan standards.
Note: Dzongri & Goecha La Trek is one of the popular treks among adventure seekers and people across world visit Kangchendzonga National Park to experience beauty of Himalayas.
Himalayan Mountains of Kangchendzonga National Park
There are many mountains can be witnessed during Dzongri & Goecha La and Kasturi Oral Round Trek of West Sikkim. I have tried my best to document most of the Himalayan Mountains of KNP, West Sikkim below. Some of Mountains belongs to Nepal region too which can be witnessed from Tsokha, Phedang, Deorali Top, Dzongri, Dzongri Top, Thangsing & Lamuney throughout the trek. A bucket list trek for Adventure Seekers!!! 🙂
Few points to be noted down before going through article:
- Below Photographs are captured during November 1st week in the year 2016.
- 1 or 2 peak names may not be proper due to lack of information, I tried my best to give perfect information on these Himalayan Mountains. Please ignore if anything posted wrong & enjoy the Photographs posted in this article.
- I have documented most of the Himalayan Mountains of Kangchendzonga National Park in this article. Still there are many mountains can be witnessed like Mt. Kumbakarna (7710 Mtr), Khang Peak (5560 Mtr), Talung (7349 Mtr) & Narsing (5825 Mtr) peaks. Not able to capture these mountains in my Nikon hence not published in this article.
Mt. Kangchendzonga: Kangchendzonga is also spelled Kanchenjunga, is the 3rd highest mountain in the world, and lies partly in Nepal and partly in Sikkim, India. It rises with an elevation of 8586 Meters (28169 feet) in a section of the Himalayas called Kangchenjunga Himal that is limited in the west by the Tamur River, in the north by the Lhonak Chu and Jongsang La, and in the east by the Teesta River.

Goecha Peak: Goecha Peak can be seen from Goecha Pass. It’s altitude is 6172 Meters and magnificent peak to witness at KNP, West Sikkim. It is situated between Oglanthang & Talung valley of West Sikkim.

Koktang & Frey Peak: Koktang & Frey peaks can be viewed from Dzongri Top (DABLHAGANG). Both peaks were close to each other and elevation is about 6147 Meters & 5330 Meters respectively.

Mt. Rathong: The Rathong Glacier is an important glacier of West Sikkim. The source of the Rathong River flows from the end of Rathong Glacier. This glacier extends from Rathong La in the north almost to the top of Chowrikiang Valley in the South. It is fed by the Mt. Rathong (6678 Meters) and Ice Falls of Kabru group of peaks.

Kabru Mountain range (Black, North, South & Dome) : Kabru is a mountain in the Himalayas on the border of eastern Nepal and India. It is part of a ridge that extends south from Kangchenjunga and is the southernmost 7,000 Mtrs (23,000 ft) peak in the world. It can be seen from Dzongri, Kangchendzonga National Park, West Sikkim.
Altitude: There are 4 Kabru’s can viewed from Deorali & Dzongri Top:
- Black Kabru (Not available)
- Kabru North(7338 Mtr)
- Kabru South (7318 Mtr)
- Kabru Dome (6585 Mtr)
Note: Kabru Mountain range can be closely experienced during Goecha La day. It is Breathtakingly beautiful!
Mt. Pandim: Mount Pandim is a Himalayan mountain located in Sikkim, India. It has an elevation of 6691 Meters (21952 feet) above sea level.

Mt. Jopunu: Mt. Jopunu is beautiful peak which is situated next to Mt. Pandim inside Kangchendzonga National Park of West Sikkim. Elevation is 5650 Meters above sea level.

Mt. Tenzing Khang: Mt. Tenzing Khang is another beautiful peak which is situated next Mt. Jopunu. Both peaks look like twin peaks since they are close to each other. It is having altitude of 6010 Meters.

Mt Lama & Lamuney: Mt Lama & Lamuney are twin peaks which is situated between Mt. Tenzing Khang & Simvo peaks of Kangchendzonga National Park. Altitude details are not available for these 2 peaks.

Simvo: One of beautiful peaks situated in Mountain range of Mt. Jopunu, Mt. Tenzing Khang, Mt. Lama & Lamuney. It is having elevation of 6812 Meters and looks like Lion faced hence name Simvo.
